walked out of the movie theater. J was off work for Good Friday so we
went to dinner and a movie! I cannot remember the last time we had
"date night" on a Friday night!! We watched Boun.tyH.unt.er it was
good and quite funny too. :} We had a really good time!
We went to the theater downtown, so as we were walking down the
sidewalk back to the parking garage these guys were trying to hand us
something. J said no thank-you(like we always do), you never know what
people are gonna hand out. As we are waiting for the light to change
so we can cross the street, this one guy walks right up to me and
says, "You're going to hell...." I wouldn't look at him cause quite
frankly he had pissed me off by saying that, AND, I make a point to
not respond when I'm approached by strangers on the street. So of
course the light took forEVER to change and this guy won't stop! I
glanced over at J and kinda awkwardly smiled at him and the guy(still
standing next to me) says, "why do you find this funny? You are going
to hell and you need to take this seriously...."
First off, I am all for witnessing and people getting saved, BUT
there's got to be a better way to tell people about Jesus than walking
up to total strangers and telling them they are going to hell.
Now let me say, I know I am NOT going to hell. I got saved as a kid
while growing up in my Christian home. I was raised in South Africa
where my parents were missionaries. I am not headed to hell!.....And
that is exactly what I should've said to the guy, but as usual I was
speechless until we were in the truck. Poor DH got an earful all the
way home. And as you can see I am still fuming over it
As we were walking off he was still yelling at us. In my opinion, that
is not a good way to witness. He could have made a much better impact
on more people had he handed out tracts, silently.

Can you say crazy?
ReplyDeleteThat's wrong. That is no way to "witness" to anyone! I would have been fuming too.
ReplyDeleteYikes!! That's kind of scary. I'm sure ignoring him was the best response, it probably drove him battier than if you'd said something.
ReplyDeleteWow. I probably would have started yelling "STRANGER DANGER! STRANGER DANGER!" and attracting all sorts of attention. ;)
ReplyDeleteBut hooray! for date night!
It's radicals like that that give Christians a bad name, what a shame!
ReplyDeleteWay to have class J!
