The new guy

-He is by no means a replacement pet-

After J found that snake in the house we decided we were going to adopt a cat. I went and picked him up today....had no clue that they adopted them out so young...he is only 3 weeks old. I haven't come up with a name yet, so if you have any ideas be sure and leave it in the comments.

  1. I have always wanted a orange tabby!! when I was little my mom would read me a book about an orange tabby cat named pickle that was always getting in to a pickle!! think that would be such a cute name for a cat!! we got our little chihuahua(sp?) from a shelter when he was 4 weeks they want the babies out of the shelter as soon as possible so they dont catch anything from the other animals!!

  2. We had a cat named Pickles. (I think this one looks like a Perseus.)

  3. HE IS SO CUTE!! Kittens just make me happy. If he's orange, you could always go for the traditional orange cat names like Marmalade or Garfield. I would probably opt for something more original though ;)

  4. Awww! I love him!!! My brother has an orange tabby named Lebowski :) I'm a big fan of long, ridiculous names for pets. How about Cornelius or Obadiah?

  5. I didn't realize they adopted them out so early either. Are they even done with milk and eating kitten food by 3 weeks?

Well anyway, he is absolutely adorable. I think he looks like an Oliver.

  6. Oh my gosh! He is adorable. I'm with Julie - he looks like an Oliver. My husband's best friend is a red-head named Oliver, so it fits. :)

  8. Usually I lurk but wanted to comment. First I'm sorry about the loss of your dog. Secondly what a cute kitty :-) They normally don't adopt them out until they're at least 7 weeks because they still needs mother's milk. Just keep an eye on his eating. Sorry no name suggestions.

  9. To answer a few Q's....Yes, when I went to the shelter they told me this litter of kittens were dropped off w/out their mother and that they were already eating hard food.

And, sadly yes, J did find a baby snake in our house last month{we live in the country, so go figure} and I was on the phone w/the exterminator in a matter of seconds....Turns out you can save yourself a lot of money by purchasing 3 items....
1.)Kitty Litter - Sprinkled around the outside of house...it gets stuck in the scales and snakes no likey!
2.)SnakeAway or BeGone - sprinkled around the outside of house, doesn't kill em' just keeps them away
3.)Mothballs{ground up} they don't like the smell{who does} and it keeps the nasty things away.

And of course, cats/kittens will help too!

  10. ummm, I won't really argue with the shelter, but he's older than 3wks. Young though, prob only about 5wks. (sorry, I've had cats my whole life, they look different at 3wks vrs 5wks)

PLEASE get the prof flea stuff from the vet when he's old enough. The store brands can give them permanent neurological problems.

He reminds me of our Buster. :) It's been my experience that orage cats are usually pretty lovey, so good pick! If he has any problems with the kitten food, I think you can put a little warm water on it to soften it more. :)
