different kinda 5 year plan

I can't believe I'd ever even ponder the thought of moving away, and live somewhere so completely opposite than what I'm use to. But hey, life happens! What am I talking about, you ask? Well, lately J and I have been considering a different kinda life. We watch shows like Rul.esof.Eng.agem.ent and Fri.en.ds etc.. and think how nice it would be to live in a big city condo where everything you need is within a half mile from where you are and you never buy more than 2 days of groceries, cause that's all you can carry. Ha!

It just so happens, that J's work has locations in San Fran, Seattle{though, that's not really big-city} and Chicago. So, we've been looking online at downtown condos in Chicago and I gotta say, I think I could do it! Sure, it would be major culture shock, but maybe not. I mean, I did use to live in South Africa.

We've decided to put condo-living on our five year plan! I would miss my parents of course{never lived more than 30 mins away from them}, then again, they did say when my dad retires they would probly move....If we were to make such a move, J would be the first person in his entire fam to ever move out of state. And, his fam is huge, so that says a lot!! Yet, he's still on board. Heck, it's all he talks about. I think he would leave tomorrow, if there were a job opening!

So, whatya think? Could ya'll see this small-town, southern, country girl in a big-city, downtown condo?!? ......I think I can{{{she whispered!}}}

**This just in - Oh my, hubby just called a realtor in Chicago. We might have to bump this up to a five month plan!**

  1. Do it! Go for it! There's a whole awesome country to see! That's one good thing about working for a large company.

    Too bad you can't move here. :( It's not that large either, but it's different than where we came from.

  2. I could see it! It would be fun.

    When I get these sort of feelings it is usually because I am mentally running away from my problems. I imagine a happier life somewhere else, but then I know that my problems will still be there.

  3. DO IT! I absolutely love Chicago. I lived there for 2 years and would move back in a heartbeat. I loved not having to use a car to get around everywhere. Plus, even though it is a big city it is so clean.

  4. Think about the snow...the cold...the wind...Just kidding :) I think that it would definitely be hard at first, but you would adjust quickly! I would love to live in a condo with a Starbucks just a block away!!!! Keep us updated!!
