Goodnight & Goodbye

I'm thinking I'm going to delete my button.bottom.crafts blog. The reason being is, I see them in boutique-type stores all the time now and I figure people have started making them themself to save a few bucks( just didn't think family would be part of it). I know this because of what happened the other day. My SIL was in town and said she had started a towel and needed me to help her finish it. Now seeing as I originally got the idea from her cousin(who used to make them) I thought I would help her this time. So I was over at my moms the other day and she brings out the towel and she hadn't even started sewing the dang thing. {strike 1} She had also told me she wanted me to help her use her sewing machine cause she didn't know how to sew or use the machine. After I spent about an hour trying to figure out the thing(it was a fancy-shmancy one & the one I have is old) she informs me that this is my moms machine. And she didn't know where I got that i thought it was hers, whatever! {strike 2} I was a bit irritated at this point so I sat there and let her sew the whole thing and every once in a while told her the next step. Then, after she finished it(if you can call it that) her and I and my mom were sitting around talking and here comes the third strike....she says, all cocky-like "So I got two towels for ten dollars and the ribbon for four dollars, so I can make two towels for $14 bucks and not have to give you $25 for just one!" NO SHIT!! Of course you can make it yourself for less money. But there ain't a business person around that will sell something for what it cost to make it. It's called PROFIT for a reason. Jackass! {strike 3}
In an very aggrevated tone I said how I should've trademarked it. To which I was bluntly told(by SIL) that people have been making them for years. So I told her it's people like her that put an end to boutique stores and walked out of the room. It was then that I mumbled under my breath and called her a b*#^*..... Then my own mom says she thinks she will start making them herself too. WTH?? The only reason SIL got those towels at that price is cause they were neon and on sale. Nothing says sweet new baby like a neon colored towel. AND, the only reason I didn't go postal on her a$$ was because the towel looked like crap. Hehe.

Goodnight all.
With that said, if my own family is going to stop purchasing from me then I don't expect many others would want to buy one either. I will still have my giveaways from time to time(on this blog) and if you ever do want one, you know where to find me!

  1. Did you delete it already? I remember seeing this blog a long time ago and I think I'd like a towel. They sound cute & you don't have to worry about me making my own... I cant even sew a button on a shirt =) And yes your SIL sounds like a biatch to me!

  5. Wow that baby might need to put on shades after a bath! I can't believe she said that to you. What a moron.

    I think it is awesome that you make towels and even attempt to sew. You should start an etsy shop!

  6. Aw, that sucks!! I agree with MHGC - get on etsy! Sure, any doofus can try to make their own, but YOU actually have skill and talent, and THAT'S what makes the product worth more than the materials cost.
